printed images trend

Recently, this season especially, I have noticed the growing trend of images being printed onto garments. Although the idea is not a new one, designers are playing with the concept in unique and original ways. I feel that this would potentially be an excellent idea to incorporate into my designs, especially in relation to the sixth design in my assignment one collection. The garment was a body suit with 3D mechanical parts joined to it's front to resemble the inside 'mechanics' of a human. The use of 3D metal objects in a middle market collection is both impractical for the wearer and for the price tag. Therefore, perhaps I could look into printing a similar mechanical design onto a garment. This would give the wearer a similar original garment with a much cheaper price tag.
